Day seventy three - Horton in Ribblesdale to Hawes

 12th May.

It was a day of low cloud and a cold northerly wind on the top but sunny lower down and it stayed dry.

Looking back to Horton in Ribblesdale
Horton is a strange place, it is very busy with three peaks runners and walkers, Pennine way walkers and other visitors, but seems to have no interest in servicing them other than the campsite which is perfect.

The Way was very straightforward, just climbing steadily up Dodd Fell and down to Hawes.

There is little to say about today's walk except that there were some great views of the rolling Pennine countryside.

I passed the Bavarian couple, who I won't see again as they are taking a rest day in Hawes.

Ling Gill was an interesting deep gorge, couldn't get a decent photo looking down, too many trees.

The river above it and the little bridge were picturesque though.

As I got closer and higher to Dodds Fell it was into the cloud until descending to Hawes.
Hawes appeared to be thriving with everything necessary available.

14 miles walked 600 meters ascent.
