GR 11 Day 45 Mas Pils to Llança

19th July

A bit warm again
There were a few spots of rain this morning when I got out of the tent but they were almost dry by the time they hit me!
Spiky undergrowth
It's very desert like here with all the dry spiny plants, There was one lonely cicada who chirruped away all night but they all started up in the morning again.
Overcast morning
There was a little gully with a water point on the way up, The vegetation here was totally different, the path was very overgrown but I did find some nice ripe blackberries.
Convento de Sant Quirze de Coleta
Over the top and down to the Convento de Sant Quirze de Coleta and restaurant, unfortunately too early for it to be open.
The road goes......
A seemingly endless road walk to Vilamaniscle where there was reputed to be a restaurant but I found some coffee and snacks machines in the centre with comfy seats, handier and cheaper, coffee only €0.70, not the best but perfect for me.
Vilamaniscle

Interesting little tractor
A climb up again and then down to Egléisia de Sant Silvestre de Valleta where I met the Spanish chap who I had bumped into over the last couple of days, can't remember his name! We managed to converse fairly well, his knowledge of English being about the same as my Spanish.
Egléisia de Sant Silvestre de Valleta
Up past abandoned terraces and over to Llança. It just got hotter and hotter.
Dry landscape
I had a bed in the hostel, book in time 17.00 but I rang the bell to ask if I could leave my pack and was told I could check in.
The hostel
Showered and refreshed I headed into the town.
Beach and marina
I had no intention of swimming at this stage but it was so hot. I bought a cheap pair of shorts but the trouble is they are virtually see through when wet.
El Tejido helping with the beer
The stones on the beach are also too hot to walk on.
Swimming cove
I thought I would book a ticket for the Salvador Dali museum in Cadaques but the first one, and only one, was for 24th. Should have booked earlier. I'll just have to spend longer here than planned!
Not at the end yet!

Congratulations Roger,- very well done and thanks for providing some adventure in my mainly sedentary life!
Although not in detail, I would be interested in your route to Roskoff. Lots of Boaty stuff in Britany.
Take it easy!
Regards,
Andy
