GR 11 Day 40 Mollò to Talaixà

14th July

A hot sunny day forecast, which was correct. Unfortunately due to making the most of where I was staying it was 09.30 before I left Mollò.

Concrete road out of Mollò
Another morning climb up through the trees, a short one this time before descending to Beget, which I was told was advertised as the most beautiful village in Spain.
The way down
It's certainly set up for tourists and priced accordingly!
Beget
Followed the river down through the trees as the temperature was rising and then came to an open area of farmland with no protection from the sun, phew!
Open farmland with sun
Into trees again but with a steep climb, no breeze, the temperature in Beguet was reported as 30° and it certainly felt it.
Up through the trees
Down the other side to prepare for another climb to Talaixa, this one felt even hotter and by the time I reached the top it was a good job I didn't have to go any further.
What looks like fallen trees is a broken bridge
The Refugio was closed but there was a great camping area around it, with cut grass and more importantly a water tap and a composting toilet.
Camping area, Sant Marti de Talaixà in the background
A great warm, dry night.
