Day seventy one - Lothersdale to Malham

A rather gray showery day but there were some sunny intervals.

Walked up to the top of the hill and decided that it was cold enough for a hat but it soon came off on the way down.
This was the first and last hill of the day, the rest of the walk being undulating farm land.

With some interesting stiles and walkways between fields

Came upon the Leeds and Liverpool canal after Thornton-in-Craven.

There is an interesting double arched  bridge at East Marton.
There is a little café there as well, but it was shut. The next place and lunch stop was Gargrave, across more fields. I met a Bavarian couple, who are walking the Way, just before the café.
It was a nice little place with an old fashioned sweet shop inside, and right on the Pennine Way.

I was side tracked by a ceramics workshop and ended up buying a plate, it will be sent to me.

After crossing more fields the Way follows the River Aire to Malham.

River Aire
Decided to stay at the Youth Hostel as it was raining!

14.5 miles walked 400 meters ascent.
