Day 13, Ballater to Feughside.
A bright sunny morning but it had been cold and there was a lot of condensation. I dried the tent as well as I could, packed it up. and left. At least it wasn't just me that had the problem.

I changed my route as I decided that I didn't want to do the 'normal' route to Montrose as it would be too crowded, so I headed off on the Deeside way towards Aberdeen.

Ballater station |
Most of the Deeside way is the old railway line that took the Royals to Ballater before being driven to Balmoral. It is very pretty as it goes through the trees following the River Dee.

The Hotel at Dinnet was shut but a bit further on there was a burger van where I got a mid morning coffee before going on to the Golf Club outside Aboyne for lunch. |

There were a lot of people swimming at Potach Bridge but disappointingly I couldn't get afternoon tea at the good café there as it is permanently closed.

Swimming at Potach Bridge |
The Deeside Way had left the old railway line before Kincardine O'Neill and wouldn't rejoin it until Banchory so this section is quite steep in places.
