Day 46, Owhango to Mangatepopo River (1121)
A leisurely start to the day as the cafe down the road didn't open until 08.00 and it would have been a shame to miss it.

Another bright sunny day as we set off for the '42 Traverse' a popular route for walkers, cyclists and quad bikers.

Surprisingly, as it was Saturday, the only people we met were two groups of quad bikers one of whom offered to take our packs for a kilometer up the hill to the land slip that has blocked the track for bikes.

There were some really good views over the bush and lovely trees but it did get very hot and humid in the afternoon.

We met Owen again at the first river crossing where there was limited camping space and decided to go on to the next river where there was supposed to be a bit more space for tents.
 |
| Loads of bush |
Three kilometers further on we crossed a bigger river, the Mangatepopo, and just up from there found space for our five tents.

A nice wild camp, only the second one on the trail so far.
