Day one hundred and thirty one - Garvault Hotel to Strath Halladale

 July 8th.

A bright sunny day with a strong SE wind, rather hazy.

Checked out of the Hotel and set off full of good breakfast and a packed lunch to enjoy later.
Up the first hill of the day, Ben Griam Mor, only a small one, 590 meters, but one that I have wanted to climb for a while.
It and it's slightly smaller neighbour Ben Griam Beg stand away from anything else and are landmarks of the Flow Country.
Having climbed the first there is a drop of about 360 meters before the second.
Very windy on the tops and unfortunately, due to the haze, only a limited view.

Down to what is left of the attempt to grow trees on the raised peat bog.

Most of the area shown as forest on the map has been felled and will not be replanted, it's all now part of the RSPB Forsinard Flows National Nature Reserve.
Looking back to the two Griams
A good track takes you through this huge area of raised peat bog and I pitched up at a breezy spot, no insects, before Strath Halladale.

14 miles walked 850 meters ascent.
