Day 22, Dome Cafe to Reminger Road (541)
A bright sunny start but it turned showery in the middle of the day clearing in the evening.
Ready to leave Dome Cafe |
Camping at the Dome was good but it was close to the National 1 road by a bend on a hill and the noise of the trucks all night made it difficult to sleep.
Safely across the N1 |
After safely crossing the road in the morning we all headed up the hill for the climb up to the Streamlands Swamp road, an interesting name for what was a fairly ordinary road / trail over the hill.
Up the hill |
Nothing very exciting today but some good forest tracks and, surprisingly, some good views.
Some good views |
Trees |
At one point myself and Charlie missed a turning and went an extra kilometer before we realized and turned back. All good training for the South Island.
I blamed the pig for distracting me |
Another view |
The campsite at Reminger Road was very good with a nice shelter for cooking and a long drop toilet.
The road goes ever on |
