Te Araroa 07/02/26

Day 139, Te Anau

It was a rainy cold and miserable day, so after thinking about the options I decided to stay here and get the shuttle out tomorrow.

The campsite
There were a number of TA walkers in town; Spike, Paddy, Scotty, Megan, Eve, Saskia, Pete and Dean who I had all met before as well as some I knew less well including Stefan and Hayley who I helped to fix some tent problems.
Main road through Te Anau
Te Anau is another tourist town with a good selection of shops and restaurants and the base for boat, helicopter and seaplane trips around Fiordland.
One for you Sarah
There is a cinema that was showing a film about Fiordland so I decided to go. It was excellent, filmed from helicopters (land travel looks almost impossible) and put together with the help of some of the Lord Of The Rings team.
Sea planes not going anywhere today
They realised that they needed somewhere to show the film so built the little cinema as well! Well worth going.

View towards Fiordland
Other than looking in some shops, talking to people and eating I didn't do much. A relaxing day.
