Day 84, Havelock to Pelorus Bridge (1852)
There was no rush to start early today as it was an easy walk to Pelorus Bridge so I had a second breakfast in the town.

| Pelorus River |
There is a new gravel track that follows the road to the river but it's not quite finished. I followed the line that it will be taking and ended up struggling up through honeysuckle and brambles to get back to the road.
 |
| Further up the river |
The trail turns off the main road, crosses the Pelorus River and continues on a gravel road.

| Gravel road |
At the end of the gravel road I met a fisherman from Chelmsford who, after a chat, gave me a cheese sandwich. Thanks very much.
 |
| Plane trees by the river |
Dalton's track then, which runs alongside the river across numerous grass paddocks, one of which was full of cows, with stiles over all the dividing fences.
 |
| Dairy herd |
It was very hot with almost no shelter from the sun, extremely tiring.
 |
| Another suspension bridge |
Eventually I reached the shelter of the woods at Pelorus Bridge and crossed the suspension bridge and road bridge to teach the campsite and the food van before it closed.
 |
| Coffee van |

| River Pelorus |

| Campsite |
.
Pelorus Bridge is a popular beauty spot and as it was Sunday afternoon there were lots of people enjoying the river in the sunshine.
A good campsite with showers and a cooking area.
Into the wilds tomorrow, unfortunately with a forecast of rain 🌧️
